About UnMov
Underground Movement is a non-profit DIY label. All money made is put back in to fund the non-pay-to-play projects, please support and buy from your local underground scene.
Underground Movement (formally Toxic Records) was started in 2000 by Ian Lawless (a long time contributor to the Irish Underground Metal and Punk scene) and John Toxic of Toxic Promotions.
In 2001 we released the first compilation "Intoxicated - Volume One" which was an all Irish Metal, Punk and Hardcore compilation and the following year we released Coldwar's debut album "Whorebred and Hellraised".
By 2003 John was too busy with gig's to continue with the label, so he went on and continued with Toxic promotions. That year we released "Intoxicated - Volume 2" - our first international compilation. Due to people continuously mixing up the label and the promotion agency (hounding Ian for gigs instead of John - sorry John), Ian changed the label name to Underground Movement, and in 2004, "Intoxicated - Volume 3" was released.
In 2005 Coldwar and the label brought out the bands mini-album "In the Suns Dead Rays".
Late 2006 brough the release of "Intoxicated - Volume 4" - our first all Irish, all Metal comp - which has turned out to be a fantastic comp, both looking and sounding great. 2007 and 2008 will up the ante with releases coming thick and fast - both comipilations and band releases alike.
Next up is either going to be the first Irish Tribute to Thrash called "Thrash & Burn" or a project I've been threatening to do for years, the first part will be out in early 2007 it"s called "Aggressive Tyrants" 20 years of Irish Metal, it"s going to be a trilogy and at the moment I"m about 3 quarters way through volume one 1987-1993 and the best thing about hunting for stuff that has been long gone like demos/photos etc is you find out interesting stuff about the early Metal scene, shit ya start to feel like a professor of Ireland's Speed metal history, but anyway I'll struggle on and keep you posted on it"s progression, work has already begun on "Intoxicated 5" so expect it out mid '07.
All the releases are available in stores throughout Dublin or direct from the websites if you"re interested that is, and why would ya not be?! Support your local underground or die!!
So now, go start a label / do a zine / promote some shows / build a distro / whatever!!!
Oh yeah, and don't let the bastards grind ya down!!!
