RIP Paul Skinny Kelly of Coitus and Coldwar
It’s with sadness that I carry the news of a bereavement within the metal scene this week. Paul ‘Skinny’ Kelly will be familiar to many gig goers in Ireland and the UK from over the years. He was a dedicated member of Dublin Metallers Coldwar, as well as several other acts previously such as legendary London Crust/Punk's Coitus. Paul sadly died on Tuesday at the age of 43. His fellow bandmembers have left a brief message.
Skinny passed away on Tuesday. We are all in shock. One of the nicest people you will ever meet, it was alway a pleasure to be in a band with him. He put his bollox into music.
Skinny enjoyed all types of music. He played in bands such as Coitus, the London based legendary punk band, and when he returned back to Dublin he joined a band called Stagnation with Trevor from Coldwar. After that he started Coldwar with Brayo and Ian Lawless.
Nasher joined soon after. Coldwar toured the states and the UK with this line up - mind you, the smell from Skinny’s feet nearly killedl us. The line up has changed over the years with Trevor, Marty, Eoin and Andy, but Skinny was always there right up to the end.”
He is survived by his wife Michelle, daughter Jade and son Luke.
Skinny will be missed by all. Love ye Skinny.
